Elizabeth and Tony Smith

Elizabeth and Tony Smith both grew up in nearby Albemarle County and were married on June 4, 1983 and have been enjoying the past 26 years together. Elizabeth and Tony moved to the Tidewater region of Virginia, where they both worked and raised their two children, Hunter and Tess. The Smiths have thoroughly enjoyed their return to the Charlottesville area and are having fun in their new venture.

Hunter and Danielle Smith

Hunter, the Smiths’ son, is 24 and has been the Marketing Manager for Afton Mountain Vineyards since the summer of 2009. Hunter attended college at Northeastern University and is an active musician. Hunter and his wife, Danielle, moved from Suffolk, VA to join the family business. Danielle graduated from Old Dominion University in 2009 and works in downtown Charlottesville. Danielle also helps with events and in the tasting house. The two were married in 2009 and live in Charlottesville, VA.

Tess Smith

Tess, the Smiths’ daughter, is 23 and currently lives in Alexandria, VA. Tess graduated from UVA ‘09 with double majors. Tess is currently taking additional courses and applying to graduate schools for sports medicine. Tess also occasionally helps with events and in the tasting house.

Robbie Corpora

Robbie Corpora is 30 and has been the Vineyard Manager for Afton Mountain Vineyards since 2005. Robbie’s years of experience in the vineyard combined with the excellent growing site allow for the production of consistent and healthy fruit. Robbie’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Piccolo, is often seen greeting tasting house customers. Robbie lives in Crozet, VA and is an active skiier in his free time.

Nick Crutchfield

Nelson Crutchfield, known as Nick, works as the Sales Manager for Afton Mountain Vineyards. Nick is a sommelier and has over 10 years experience in the wine and spirits industry. As with all employees, Nick can also be spotted in the Tasting House. Nick is 33 and lives with his wife Stacey in Charlottesville, VA.

Lucien Dimani

Hailing from Cahors, France, Lucien Dimani is 25 years old and has been the Winemaker at Afton Mountain Vineyards since September of 2009. In addition to belonging to a family of winemakers, Lucien received degrees in viticulture and oenology from the Institut Rurale de Vayres. Lucien resides very nearby in Afton, VA.

Brian Goff

Brian Goff is 29 and is the Tasting Room and Operations Manager and has been with Afton Mountain Vineyards since the summer of 2002. In addition to managing the wine club and the tasting room, Brian also works in the vineyard and winery to make sure things are running smoothly. Brian lives with his wife, Erikka, and their dogs, Smokey and Elvis, in Scottsville, VA.

Jennifer Lewis

Jennifer Lewis is 28 and is in her second year at Afton Mountain Vineyards. Jen works in the Tasting Room part time and is always a familiar smiling face to our customers. Jen is from upstate New York but lives and works in Waynesboro, VA.
